Reviews
Came for a birthday dinner celebration. We loved our appetizers which were amazing with lots of flavour.
The service was above average. She was very friendly, attentive and has great wine knowledge.
The restaurant is nicely decorated, super clean, cozy and elegant.
My personal rating out of 5 stars:
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tagliatelle with black truffles: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Baked tuna sashimi: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Crispy pork shank salad: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Roasted cauliflower vanilla soup: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Veal cordon bleu with brie: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beef tenderloin with savoy cabbage: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you are dining here for the first time I recommend trying the baked tuna sashimi and crispy pork as starter. The main was good, and interesting. My personal highlight from the main: the cordon bleu and savoy cabbage strudel, the rest was good but nothing special.
Overall a great experience and will definitely dine her again!
Wunderbares Essen und sehr aufmerksamer Service! Gemütliches Ambiente, Preis für das Gebotene völlig ok.
This was a business event, held in a private room up many steep stairs. Gorgeous room with one of the best lighting concepts I have experienced. Cozy, flattering light but you could clearly see what was on your plate. Great service, a cheeky chappy with a sense of humour, and an amazing first course. The dish of the day was a ramen noodle soup which was very bland I am sorry to say. Best ApérolSpritz I have ever had!
Extremely slow service, it took 1h for the single staff to take our orders, even though we were seated upstairs in the group room. Very basic dishes from 1980 with barely any vegetarian options. Weird lights that flicker uncomfortably. In short, the kind of place where bankers go when someone else is paying.
Wonderful place to dine & enjoy the evening. Food & service was exceptional!
Upscale place near Münsterhof. Limited but varied menu. The ravioli and tuna with sashimi puree were very tasty and well presented, sitting outdoors with a nice and relaxing view on the square. Really enjoyed and will definitely go back. Thanks for the great evening, was a pleasure to take customers here.
Very nice food and service. The Mezzeluna is very much recommended. It’s only a pity that they don’t have more vegetarian options
The food was really good, very balanced with fine taste. The atmosphere is charming and chic. I can totally recommend this restaurant. The prices are not cheap but it is worth it --> 5 stars
However, we went there in a group where one of us has a food allergy. The first annoying thing was that the allergens are indicated insufficiently on the menu. Some, like eggs, are not indicated at all. So we asked the waiter for advice. We asked three times to be really careful about allergens contamination for a dish on the menu, such that even the cook himself assured that it is unproblematic. However, after one bite of the salad dressing, the person had an allergic reaction and needed to take medicine to prevent an anaphylactic shock. This of course kills the mood for the evening and is very upsetting since we really made clear to be careful. Aside of that, I find it a quite disappointing that the supposedly allergens-free dish was simply composed of the same amount of (very tasty!!) meat and green salad, leaving all other sides away, not offering some other side to make it a normal sized main course. At the end we got to hear a lapidar excuse me and the dish charged a full price - unacceptable for a restaurant at this price class.
Summing up, I recommend the restaurant to everyone without food allergies, since the food is exceptionally good and the location is nice! For people with specific dietary requirements, however, I cannot recommend at all. Therefore, the overall rating of 2 stars.
Traditional Swiss restaurant Heugümper, situated at Waaggasse 4 in Zurich, Switzerland, serves authentic Swiss fare in a warm and inviting ambiance.
Situated within a historic edifice in the heart of Zurich, the restaurant showcases conventional Swiss ambiance and exposed wooden beams on its interior. Particularly well-liked by tourists and locals, Heugümper is renowned for its cordial and diligent service.
Heugümper's menu showcases an extensive assortment of Swiss gastronomic creations, each crafted using seasonal, fresh ingredients. Several of the most well-liked dishes consist of:
This traditional Swiss dish, Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, consists of veal cutlets cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce. The veal is perfectly cooked, and the mushroom sauce is flavorful and rich. Traditionally, Zürcher Geschnetzeltes is accompanied by Rosti, which is a Swiss potato pancake.
This hearty Swiss dish, Älplermagronen, consists of macaroni, potatoes, bacon, and cheese. This popular winter dish is available throughout the year at Heugümper. Älplermagronen is conventionally accompanied by applesauce as a side dish.
Chügelipastete is a savory pie composed of ground meat, eggs, and onions baked in puff pastry. It is a popular appetizer or snack in Switzerland. Chügelipastete is customarily accompanied by mustard or ketchup as an accompaniment.
Rosti is a Swiss potato pancake prepared with bacon, grated potatoes, and onions. Although commonly served as a side dish, it can also be incorporated into a main course. Rousti is customarily accompanied by an apple puree or a dollop of sour cream.
This confectionery item is a Swiss braided loaf of bread that has been filled with chocolate. A sumptuous way to conclude a meal at Heugümper. Zopfkuchen is customarily accompanied by vanilla ice cream or whipped cream as a side dish.
Aside from the main course, Heugümper also provides a daily specials menu comprised of seasonal fare prepared with locally sourced, fresh ingredients. At Heugümper, there is consistently a succession of novel offerings on the daily specials menu.
Additionally, Heugümper boasts a comprehensive wine list that features an assortment of Swiss and international wines. An enthusiastic sommelier curates the wine list and is always willing to assist diners in selecting the ideal wine to complement their entree.
